Jihočeské dřevařské závody, a.s. is a company formed from the former Jihočeské dřevařské závody n.p. At the time of privatization, the company had more than 2,500 employees and around 15 plants throughout the South Bohemian Region. The wood processing and woodworking activities were separated from the group’s portfolio of activities and most of the plants were sold to private investors. The company’s shareholders focused on maintaining and developing the wood impregnation business, and so the only one of the plants remaining in the ownership of the EGE Group is Impregnace Soběslav s.r.o.

At the moment, Jihočeské dřevařské závody, a.s. has only one purpose, namely, to complete the removal of old environmental burdens resulting from the company’s activities before 1989. This activity is carried out in cooperation with state institutions and is covered by an environmental contract with the former National Property Fund – now the Ministry of Finance. Currently, in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, the Czech Environmental Inspectorate, and the Ministry of the Environment, an assessment of the last 10 sites is being carried out to determine the current state of environmental burden. After the completion of this issue, the activities of Jihočeské dřevařské závody, a.s. will be terminated.
